Io veggio i campi verdeggiar fecondi,
E le rive fiorite, e i coll' intorno
E gravidi di pomi arbore, e frondi,
E d'infinite ville il lido adorno
Sento i venti spirar dolci e giocondi
Serenissimo il sol qui spiega il giorno
Scendete omai, prendete al fin riposo
Sperando ai vostri affann' il ciel pietoso.
English
I see the fields flourishing with green,
and the flowering banks and hills all around,
and trees bountiful with apples and blossoms,
and the banks adorned with many villas.
I feel the breezes blowing sweetly and merrily,
the sun serenely unfolding the day.
Descend now, take rest at last in the hope
that heaven will have mercy on your troubles.
