La pastorella mia tra i fiori, e'l giglio
Anzi la rosa di più grat' odore;
Tra le gemme il rubin vago, e vermiglio,
S'io miro delle labbra il bel colore;
E tra i pomi al granato l'assimiglio,
Chi ha la corona, e degl'altri è signore.
Regin'anch'ella par tra le donzelle,
Anzi la Dea d'Amor tra l'altre stelle.

Among the flowers my shepherdess is the lily,
or rather the rose of sweetest fragrance;
among the jewels she's the lovely vermillion ruby,
looking at the beautiful color of her lips;
and among apples she resembles the pomegranate,
which has the crown and is lord over the others;
she is also the queen among the maidens,
or rather the goddess of love among the stars.
